4 Colour RISO print, made into a short 8 page zine, based on a gouache and pencil drawings which tried to capture feelings of sense of belonging through connection to language and present environment. In belarusian language July is Lipien’ which translates to Linden. They blossom in July, the smell is strong and intoxicating.
Only 12% of people in Belarus speak Belarusian as their first language due to many years of russification. Bigger project theme is to explore sense of belonging and national identity in the countries which suffered occupation or russification and my own personal belonging and identity to Latvia and Belarus.

A collage using family photos and little physical evidence of my great grandparents lives left to us. During my research I came across a lot of inspiring books abundant with information, letters, photos, houses. Where my own family has gaps. Where my own nations have gaps. Using RISO printer I experimented with using photos and painted texture to start experimenting with the idea.
